We have heard from some users who have seen their ads disappear from DoneDeal, or their ads were replaced with another ad.
When this happens it may be another person who has logged in to your email account and stolen your ad. As this person can read your emails he can also log in to any of your DoneDeal ads through the links in the DoneDeal emails.
Often this person will also change your email account to send on all emails from DoneDeal, so you never get to read any emails or warnings we send you.
If any of your ads have mysteriosly disappeared or been replaced, please follow our step-by-step advice below to make sure no-one else can access your emails anymore.
Make your Email Safe Again
To make your email account safe again you need to do two things:
- Change to a new password.
- Make sure that DoneDeal emails are not automatically forwarded from your email account to another account.
Below are specific instructions for the most common email types.
Gmail
- Change your password on the Google Accounts Page.
- Log in to Gmail. Click on Settings. Make sure there are no items under "Filters" and "Forwarding and POP/IMAP".
Yahoo Email (New Layout)
- Log in to your email. Click on "My Account". Enter your current password and Sign In. Click on "Change Password" and change to a new password.
- Click on "Options" -> "Mail Options" -> "POP & Forwarding". Make sure that your emails are not forwarded to any one else.
Eircom
To change your pass in Eircom:
- Go to http://autoreg.eircom.net/passwordchange/
- Click on button "Click here if you know your password and wish to change it"
- Select email from list of options
- Enter your email address
- Enter your existing password and press Continue
- Enter new password, and press Save. (You need to wait 40 minutes for password to be fully updated)
To change the email forward address:
- Log into your email account and click on Options tab
- Click on Mail Tab
- Clear "Address to forward mail to:"
- Hit Save (button is at left hand corner)
